Well, At Least We're Together...

So, exactly one week ago, Mel was in town visiting so Joy (another college roommate) decided to come and see both of us. Anthony, Cora, and Abby came, too, so it was great to see them (Morgan!) Anyway, we headed to the Ontario Beach for the day which is kind of ghetto but, hey, what do you expect for a beach in Rochester? So, we got to the beach around noon and began to eat lunch at one of the picnic tables by the board walk (it was too windy to eat on the beach) when Anthony realized they didn't have anything to drink so he headed to a convenient store to get some cash out and buy them some drinks. After Cora and Abby had eaten as much as Joy could get them to eat and asked, "Can we go swimming in the lake now?" for the 15th time, we decided to head down to the water. But before we did that, we noticed that Anthony wasn't back yet so Joy gave him a call. Yeah, he was stuck at a Wilson Farms because their van's steering wheel was locked which I guess has happened before so he said he'd just keep trying to unlock it. So...right, the lake...so we head down to the water to find it's roped off...we ask a lifeguard what's up and she said the beach was closed for bad clarity and too much algae. Needless to say, the girls were really disappointed but we still had the ghetto playground to play on and, of course, the carousel to ride! So, we made the best of it. The girls had a great time on the play ground and carousel and so did Corban (his reaction to the swing was hilarious- a mix of terror and excitement). After our "beach fun", we headed to the Wilson Farms to see how Anthony was coming with unlocking their wheel...it was not going well so we called AAA and a tow truck guy came. It was really hot as we waited in the parking lot and tried to keep the kids cool and happy and I said, "Well, at least we're together." Then it started to rain and I said, "Well, I think it's time for me to head home." Ha, ha. We stayed until the tow truck dude came and told us the van had to be towed and then Mel and I took the 3 kids back to the house while Joy and Anthony waited for my Dad to come pick them up (thanks Dad!!) Once home, I got the kiddie pool out for the girls since our lake promises were in vain and we had dinner with Jesse when he got home from work and all relaxed for a few hours. My Mom and Dan even came over to see everyone. Then Doc and Jeannie came from Big Flats to pick Joy and Anthony up since their car was stuck in Rochester- bummer! It's a visit we'll always remember:)

Little Abby- she doesn't look like Joy at all, does she?! :)

Corban and Mommy (Cora in the background) on the carousel- we rode a pig instead of a horse because it was close to where the girls were riding:)
