Hawaii Vacation, Day 2!!: Tuesday, March 1st

There were some amazing trees outside our hotel door that MANY birds called home because they serenaded us around 5:30 every morning:) Our first full day in Hawaii- Tuesday- was no exception. But we managed to fall back to sleep after all their chirping for a few more hours, then relaxed on our balcony, ate breakfast, and enjoyed our breathtaking view!

After Jesse showered, he explored the resort a bit (the man CANNOT sit still!) while I did my devotions on the balcony- ahhhhhhhhh...no kids- so weird; weird and wonderful! Jesse and I were out the door by 10 a.m., bought some snacks at an expensive grocery store at the resort, walked in some shops, then drove the 40 minutes to Kona Brewing Company, thinking their tours ran between 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. based on what we had read on their website but apparently their tours only run twice a day: once at 10:30 a.m. and once at 3 p.m...so we signed up for the 3 p.m. tour and had 4 hours to kill. We walked around Kona, did some more grocery shopping at a cheaper grocery store in town, and walked through a Hilo Hattie store. Around 1:30 p.m. we went back to Kona Brewing Company and ate lunch. Their food and beer were really yummy! It was fun to eat pizza and not worry about the cheese being near Corban:) The tour of the brewery was super fast because it's so small but it was really interesting to hear how they make their beer and taste the different kinds they make. I especially liked their Pipeline Porter made with 100% Kona coffee- it was like drinking a dessert! The funniest part of our tour was that our guide was from Rochester, NY, went to school in Greece (the district my Dad has taught in for 30+ years), and his name was Jesse- what are the odds of that?!

We got back to the resort by 5 p.m., bought a 1/2 gallon of milk for $8.50 (crazy!!), explored the resort, went in a hot tub, watched the sun set as we relaxed on a couple of comfy lounge chairs, and laid down for a nap at 7 p.m. Then our nap turned into going to bed since we were still so tired from getting so little sleep the night before!
