Hawaii Vacation, Day 1!!: Monday, February 28th

Our first day on vacation- the kids had a blast with Grandma going to story time at the library and making a snowman as we flew to Hawaii.

We arrived to the Rochester airport at 6 a.m., flew from there to Chicago, Chicago to San Francisco, and San Francisco to Kona. Landed in Kona at 9 p.m. Hawaii time (2 a.m. our time). The airport was so cool with everyone outside waiting at their gates, even the baggage claim was outside! We'd been awake 21 hours at that point. We took the shuttle to the rental car place, drove 20 minutes to the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort, checked in, parked the car, and took the tram to our room (our room was a 15 min. walk to the lobby- the resort was HUGE!) Almost immediately upon entering our hotel room, we called Room Service and ordered two "Big Kahuna" cheeseburgers (they were soooooooo good after a long day of traveling!), showered and went to bed at midnight thus being awake 24 hours straight.

Happy to finally be on the ground at the Kona International Airport on the Big Island!
Waiting for the rental car shuttle - we ended up with an orange Dodge Caliber on the Big Island but forgot to take any pictures of it.
Day 1- finally there!!!
